CCO2WALL GREEN ROOFTOPS
Turn unused roof space into living infrastructure.
CO2Wall transforms rooftops into intelligent green systems that combine circular engineering, climate-specific planting, precision irrigation and digital monitoring — adding environmental value without sacrificing architectural quality.
MORE THAN A GREEN ROOF
A CO2Wall green roof is engineered as part of the building environment rather than treated as an isolated landscape feature. Structure, planting, irrigation, water management, climate conditions and long-term operation are configured together around the requirements of the roof and the objectives of the project.
Architectural integration
Designed around roof geometry, technical installations, access requirements and the architectural identity of the building..
Climate engineering
Planting and irrigation are adapted to solar exposure, wind, temperature and local environmental conditions.
Intelligent operation
IRIXON can connect irrigation, sensors and environmental data for continuous visibility and optimisation.
Long-term performance
Modular and serviceable components support maintenance, plant replacement and future adaptation without rebuilding the complete roof system.
CO2WALL SMART ROOF ENGINEERING
A green-roof system designed to protect the roof beneath it.
CO2Wall Smart Roof is engineered as a modular living system above the existing roof surface. By creating a ventilated and protected space between the building roof and the green-roof system, moisture is not continuously trapped against the underlying roof construction — supporting accessibility, durability and long-term performance.
Structurally separated
The CO2Wall system is engineered as a separate layer above the existing roof rather than being built directly onto it, helping protect the underlying roof construction.
2–80 cm ventilated protection
Depending on the project, a ventilating and protective space of approximately 2 to 80 cm can be created beneath the CO2Wall system, reducing prolonged moisture contact with the existing roof.
The roof remains accessible
The underlying roof can remain accessible for inspection, maintenance and local intervention without requiring removal of the complete CO2Wall green-roof installation.
Curves, slopes & transitions
The modular system can follow architectural curves, accommodate roof slopes of up to 60% and transition seamlessly into CO2Wall façade systems.
Protect the roof. Keep it accessible. Turn it into living infrastructure.
SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

ONE PLATFORM · MULTIPLE ROOF CONFIGURATIONS
Every CO2Wall Green Roof is configured around the architecture, roof construction and environmental conditions of the project. A ventilated protective layer, modular roof elements, precision irrigation, sensing and intelligent control work together as one integrated system.
Ventilated roof protection
The CO2Wall system is separated from the existing roof by a protective and ventilating layer. Depending on the project, this cavity can range from approximately 2 to 80 cm, helping prevent prolonged moisture contact while keeping the underlying roof accessible for inspection and maintenance.
Modular CO2Wall roof elements
Closed modular roof elements, approximately 100 × 30 cm and 33 cm high, form continuous rows across the roof surface. Their modular construction allows efficient installation, individual replacement and adaptation to curves, slopes and architectural transitions.
Precision root-zone irrigation
The roof uses the same proven irrigation principle as the CO2Wall façade system. Project-specific irrigation lines deliver water and nutrients directly into the root zone, supporting efficient water use and stable growing conditions.s.
Sensors & connected devices
Environmental and operational sensors can monitor moisture, temperature, water flow, climate conditions and other project-specific parameters across the roof installation.
IRIXON intelligence
Monitoring, irrigation control, alerts, analytics and software updates keep the green roof visible, adaptable and continuously upgradeable throughout its operational life.
Protecting the roof beneath. Supporting living infrastructure above.
GREEN ROOF PERFORMANCE
A living roof that protects, cools and strengthens the building below
A CO2Wall green roof creates an active environmental layer above the building. By separating the living system from the existing roof, combining vegetation with a ventilated protective cavity and using intelligent irrigation, the roof can contribute to thermal protection, improved building performance and longer-term protection of the underlying roof construction.
Thermal buffering
Vegetation, growing medium and the ventilated layer help reduce direct solar heat transfer to the underlying roof and create an additional thermal buffer above the building envelope.
Protection from weather exposure
The CO2Wall system shields the existing roof from direct sunlight, temperature extremes and continuous environmental exposure while maintaining separation from the waterproof roof surface.
Energy performance
Reduced solar loading on the building envelope can support lower cooling demand, with project potential of up to 40% in suitable applications.
Moisture-safe construction
The ventilated protective space beneath the system helps prevent prolonged moisture contact and allows the roof construction below to remain inspectable and serviceable.

A greener roof above. A better protected building below.

PLANT STRATEGY
Planting designed for climate, performance and identity.
CO2Wall planting strategies are never generic.
Each project is developed around climate conditions, solar exposure, irrigation behaviour, maintenance requirements and the architectural ambition of the location.
INTRO SECTION
Planting is part of the system, not added afterwards.
At CO2Wall, planting is engineered as part of the total living-infrastructure solution. Species selection, visual composition, growth behaviour and water demand are aligned with the system design from the beginning, helping every façade perform as well as it looks.
Climate-specific selection
Plant palettes are adapted to local climate conditions, sun exposure, orientation and environmental stress factors.
Performance-based design
Planting is selected not only for appearance, but also for coverage, durability, cooling effect and long-term stability.
Visual composition
Patterns, textures, tones and species mix are designed to support the architectural identity of the project.
Operational suitability
Growth rate, maintenance behaviour, replacement strategy and irrigation compatibility are considered from the start.
PLANT STRATEGY IN PRACTICE
From species selection to living composition.
CO2Wall translates project requirements into structured planting strategies that combine performance, biodiversity and visual quality. Depending on the project, planting can be calm and uniform, dynamic and expressive, or shaped into a recognisable visual identity.
Coverage & density
Planting strategies are developed to create the desired visual density while preserving healthy growth conditions.
Colour & texture
Leaf size, tone variation and textural contrast are used to give each installation its own character.
Growth behaviour
Species are selected for how they establish, mature and respond over time in the intended conditions.
Project identity
Planting can support a restrained architectural appearance or become a defining visual feature of the location.
Every plant has a role. Together they form one living system.
DIGITAL PLANT DESIGN

Designed with precision before installation begins.
CO2Wall uses its dedicated plant-design platform to define exactly where each plant species is positioned within the living wall — whether the project covers 1 m² or 100,000 m². This gives full control over patterning, plant distribution, quantities and execution quality before installation starts.
Exact species positioning
Every section can be mapped in detail, ensuring the right plant is placed in the right location.
Scalable planning
The same design logic can be applied consistently across small features, large façades and full portfolios.
Execution certainty
Planting plans support production, logistics, installation and replacement with greater precision.
Visual control
Design intent, density, colour balance and patterning can be tested and refined before delivery.
From concept to exact plant position, digitally planned, physically realised.
BIODIVERSITY & RESILIENCE
Planting should support more than appearance alone.
A well-designed living wall can contribute to healthier urban ecosystems by creating habitat, introducing vegetative diversity and supporting climate resilience. CO2Wall planting strategies aim to balance architectural quality with ecological value.
Flora diversity
Mixed species strategies can create richer and more resilient living surfaces.
Fauna support
Planting can help provide shelter and ecological value for insects and urban biodiversity.
Adaptability
Species mixes can be adjusted to local environmental conditions and project priorities.
Long-term resilience
A diverse and well-considered planting strategy supports durability over time.
The best planting strategy is never only beautiful. It is beautiful because it is engineered to thrive.
INSTALLATION & DELIVERY
Engineered for efficient roof installation.
Every CO2Wall Green Roof is prepared project-specifically before installation. Roof geometry, module layout, protective layers, irrigation routing and planting plans are coordinated in advance so installation can be carried out efficiently while protecting the existing roof construction.
Pre-engineered configuration
System dimensions, roof transitions, module positions and irrigation zones are prepared before mobilisation
Modular installation
CO2Wall roof elements are installed in organised rows, allowing efficient phased installation and straightforward replacement of individual components.
Protection of the existing roof
The CO2Wall system remains separated from the roof surface by a ventilating protective layer, helping avoid prolonged moisture contact with the existing waterproofing.
Commissioning & handover
After installation, irrigation, sensors and controls are commissioned and the complete roof system is handed over ready for operation.
Designed above the roof. Installed to protect what lies beneath.
LONG-TERM OPERATION
Accessible, serviceable and designed for decades of use.
Long-term roof performance depends on more than healthy planting. CO2Wall is designed so vegetation, irrigation and technical components can be maintained while the existing roof below remains accessible for inspection and intervention.
Planned maintenance
Regular horticultural inspections and maintenance help maintain healthy planting, visual coverage and system performance.
Roof remains accessible
Because the CO2Wall system is separated from the existing roof, local roof inspection and maintenance can be carried out without removing the complete green-roof installation.
Replaceable components
Individual roof modules, plants, irrigation components and sensors can be serviced or replaced independently.
Remote visibility
IRIXON provides insight into irrigation, sensor data and system status, supporting efficient operation and early identification of abnormalities.
